Bicycle Portrait #8 & #9: Echo Park Lake BBB
Rushing to work, things are a blur, a worker in his dickies runs up the stairs in front of you. He is determined, focused, and disappears in the blink of an eye. Who is he? Nameless, his determination and aglity lingers.
Bicycle Portrait #6: Union Station Metro Red Line Stairs
Climbing the stairs with a bike takes skill. This gentleman made it look so effortless and elegant. Having a straight bar you can hang on a shoulder is a good technique. It probably helps that he sports a vintage 1989 Schwinn Le Tour which was state of the art for its time and is still a lightweight trusty steed.
Bicycle Portrait #4: Union Station
Riding the train everyday to work comes with benefits, 30 minutes to read, review work documents or just doze into outer space. It also provides opportunities to meet lots of people commuting with their bike, like this fellow with the hip mix-match stripes and a stylish yet practical Sirrus Specialized bike.
Bicycle Portrait #2: Red Line Metro to Wilshire and Vermont Station
Bike Month just got rolling, all aboard! With all the bike excitement, I really wanted to get this super cute Marimekko Bike but the folks as Target said it was a seasonal item and no longer available, sad! Maybe I will have to settle for a celeste beauty like the one I saw boarding a Metrolink train today.
Bicycle Portrait #2: Metrolink Commuter from Union Station to Home
It’s National Bike Month, so grease that chain, pump those tires, and get ready for some Cycle Chic LA style! I’ll be snapping portraits of everyday LA folks riding bicycles to work, to coffee, to transit, to shopping or to play, all in celebration of this special month. I’m aiming to post at least one new photo per day as we explore what bicycles can do – for our health, our happiness and our communities.
Bicycle Portrait #1: Metro Redline Commuter from Noho to 7th/Metro
Eric Garcetti joined Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM on 8/21/15 to chat about the expansion and development of green and protected bike lanes in Los Angeles County. Garcetti highlights the ease of biking for short trips to the grocery store or to visit friends. Every trip taken by bike instead of by car reduces traffic! #BikeInstead
